Soft matter physics
The soft matter physics group studies the behavior of highly-deformable materials from soft solids to complex fluids. These materials, whether exotic or familiar, have incredible properties endowed by the subtle interplay of entropy, elasticity, and geometry. The group at Syracuse University has long been at the forefront of soft matter research, and maintains active collaborations with scientists over the world and in disciplines from physics to biology to engineering.
