Academic Advising

Your advisor will help you navigate the major decisions of your undergraduate experience, such as:

Academic Options and Plans

Your advisor will guide you through the discovery process of adding, declaring, changing or dropping your major and/or minor(s). They will also help you create an academic plan to ensure you complete your degree requirements on time.

Choose a major based on your interests, aptitudes and abilities, personality, values and lifestyle, among other things. As part of exploring majors, your advisor may have you take a self-assessment to identify those factors.

Courses, Majors and Minors

To officially declare a major, please visit MySlice and submit a Major Declaration Form under eForms.

Once you declare a major, a faculty mentor will be assigned to you within your major. Some majors stipulate certain grade performance in foundational courses before you can declare the major, and you are encouraged to consult with a faculty advisor about each major's unique program requirements.

Liberal Arts Core Requirements

At A&S, you'll have the opportunity to explore subjects familiar and totally new, while gaining perspective on the diversity and richness of the people, cultures and natural world around you.

For more information about the Liberal Arts Core, talk with your advisor.

Academic and Personal Support Referrals

Need assistance in or outside of the classroom? Your advisor can help connect you with appropriate resources.

Registration and Advising Holds

Meet with your advisor to resolve Advising Holds or discuss your academic plans before course registration.

Intra-University Transfers and Dual Enrollment

We aim to support students in their academic endeavors and pursuits, and provide a positive experience for Intra-University Transfer students and those becoming dually enrolled as they transition to A&S.
