PSC Digital Portfolio

Caroline Charles Humanities Center Diss Fellowship Presentation

Upon completion of the PSC, students/postdocs will submit a portfolio including:

- A personal statement/profile page describing your work as a publicly engaged scholar to a public audience.

- At least 4 Reflections:

- Artifacts connected to projects, courses, creative work, etc. demonstrating your publicly engaged work

- Short testimonies from mentors, community partners, and/or students about your work

- A video recording presenting your publicly engaged work to a public audience (see below)

We encourage you to build this portfolio with a public audience in mind on a web platform you’re comfortable using (e.g. WordPress, Google Sites, Omeka, Canva, etc.) so that you’re able to use it when applying for jobs, fellowships, funding opportunities, etc. However, you are not required to make all elements of your portfolio publicly accessible. For instance, you might consider designating some portfolio elements public while keeping others on password-protected pages.

Portfolios will be submitted to the EHN and Graduate School for review and approval as the final step for the completion of the PSC. A record of submitted portfolios along with the personal statements of PSC awardees will be kept on the University’s open access repository, SURFACE.

Video Presentation

Digital portfolios submitted for review and completion of the PSC should include a video presentation for both academic and public audiences. These presentations should provide an overview of your publicly engaged work focusing on approach and impact through reflections on specific publicly engaged projects, courses, programs, etc.

The presentation, 12-15 minutes in length, will provide an opportunity for PSC participants to chart their experiences as a public scholar, to share successes and challenges, as well as to practice sharing their work across diverse audiences.
