If you are interested in using science to solve real-world problems, biotechnology is for you. It touches almost every aspect of our day-to-day lives. In the modern world, our food, our health and our environment all depend on advances in biotechnological research. Biotechnology is one of the most rapidly expanding fields across the globe, driving an ever-growing demand for a strong, highly trained workforce. Progress in biotechnology is limited only by human creativity in finding novel uses for living organisms, their molecules and the processes they can carry out.
Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary program at Syracuse University that includes faculty members from the departments of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and economics, as well as from the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
