Upstate Accelerated Scholars (UAS) Program

The Upstate Accelerated Scholars (UAS) Program allows highly competitive applicants to Syracuse University to be simultaneously considered for admission to medical school at SUNY Upstate Medical University. The Upstate Accelerated Scholars Program will consider Syracuse University applicants for fall 2024 admission.

The program offers two separate tracks, based on the student’s undergraduate degree:

  • 3+4 Program: Students pursuing the BA in biology will follow a 3-year timeline at Syracuse University. The fourth year of their undergraduate timeline is spent at Upstate Medical University; following successful completion of the first-year medical curriculum, the BA degree is conferred by Syracuse University. This option is subject to availability, as limited seats are available each year.
  • 4+4 Program: Students pursuing any other degree will follow a 4-year timeline at Syracuse University before matriculating at SUNY Upstate. Upon successful completion of the Syracuse University degree and all requirements for the UAS Program, students matriculate at SUNY Upstate.

Degrees offered

Bachelor’s degree at Syracuse University + MD at SUNY Upstate
