Language Matters

Language Matters is a language-research consortium at Syracuse University, which promotes, highlights, and disseminates language-based research and creates new synergies by bringing individuals and communities into regular scholarly conversations around language research and teaching.

What we do

The language one speaks shapes one’s personality, delineates identity, and embeds each person in a specific community. To inquire about language is to investigate human beings and the inherent properties that define their past, present, and future. By consciously reflecting upon words and where they position us, we expand our worldview and open our minds and hearts, fostering more welcoming, diverse, and inclusive communities.
