To help new international students make a smooth academic transition, we provide a comprehensive onboarding academic coaching program from early May to mid-August every year. The program is comprised of three sections.

International Student Success Catapult Program in Blackboard

A non-credit asynchronous course offered on Blackboard with three learning outcomes. It takes students approximately 10 hours to complete the course at their own pace.

1. understanding academic expectations for college students at SU
2. identifying essential SU personnel and resources for academic success
3. finding the paths to graduation and career.

Student logs in to https://blackboard.syracuse.edu with SU NetID and password. Under “My Organizations,” select “International Student Success Catapult 2024-2025 – Arts & Sciences and Maxwell.”

Weekly Academic Training

To facilitate new international students successful transition to SU, in addition to the Blackboard Catapult course, we hold a weekly (Wednesday) Zoom meeting to demonstrate how to utilize SU online learning platforms, learn academic programs and resources, and become familiar with academic policies and expectations, from early May to August. The speakers include professors, academic and career advisors and student leaders. Students will find the series of topics in the Catapult program in Blackboard.
