Place, Space and Environment
We examine the multiple ways in which culture responds and is defined by the specific spaces, places, and environments where it is produced. Our approach to these sites of production is holistic, as it encompasses the ecological and geographical dimensions of culture in addition to its artistic and historical significance. Accordingly, our subjects are diverse and wide-ranging, including transformations of space through music and art as well as the visual and sonic cultures that have attempted to represent distinct spaces and environments.
