Gender Studies
Visual and performance arts are rich grounds for the negotiation of gender identities, roles, and ideologies around the world. Our art historians, historical musicologists, and ethnomusicologists reach through a diverse range of artistic media, styles and genres and across histories and geographies to study how the arts simultaneously reflect, represent, construct, and challenge ideas of feminine, masculine, and alternative identities.
