Rafy Evans has been awarded an Undergraduate Summer Research Award in the amount of $2,000. Funds to support this stipend are provided by the Syracuse University Student Association, the Provost's Office, and the Office of Research at Syracuse University.
Rafy will be continuing to work on a project that she has been developing over the past year with Professor Steve Parks. She says, "The project is a book that aims to define and outline how to be an ally towards those living through the Syrian Conflict through a feminist lens. Three female writers and editors, including myself, are developing the book through telling personal narratives with testimonies of Syrian women dealing with the conflict happening in Syria. My chapter of the book talks to my relationship with digital media and my previous research relating to human rights violations in Syria. This chapter aims to continue the conversation I see between political reform and social activism happening online."
