B.S. in Geology
Program Description
The BS degree in Geology provides a background in basic science and geology, and through appropriate choice of electives can be tailored to meet a wide range of interests within the Earth Sciences. This degree is appropriate for students who are interested in careers focused on geological research, natural hazards (volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides), natural resources and energy, and positions within state and federal agencies such as the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the Department of Energy (DOE), and NASA. Students on this degree track are also required to participate in a field camp to provide hands-on experience with geologic mapping and interpretation of the rock record.
