Faculty in this research cluster engage with specific cinematic styles and genres (e.g. Bollywood, teen movies, 1940s melodrama, epic and historical film), as well as with specific topics such as the representation of gender and the use of pre-existing music. Our particular interests lie with the cinematic use of music and visual materials. We are especially interested in the ways in which cinema reflects and articulates broader cultural topics.
