CCR alum Seth E. Davis, LeMoyne-Owen College, has won the 2025 CCCC Lavender Rhetorics Award for Excellence in Queer Scholarship's Nontraditional Scholarly Text Award for the YouTube documentary, Unbuckling the Bible Belt: Black Queer Cruising in Memphis. The selection committee noted the following:

Not only is the imagery and structural design of this video quite interesting in composition, the video makes a significant contribution to work on space, ecology and its connection to race, gender, and sexuality. The braided personal and academic content was also a significant demonstration of the scholar's range and versatility as a writer. It's kind of an epic video essay counterstory!

Davis will be announced as a recipient of the CCCC Lavender Rhetorics Award for Excellence in Queer Scholarship's Nontraditional Scholarly Text Award at the CCCC Awards Presentation on Friday, April 11, during the 2025 CCCC Annual Convention in Baltimore, MD.
