Undergraduate Program in Women's and Gender Studies
Women's and Gender Studies will engage students in the study of how gender shapes the world around us. This curriculum emphasizes race, ethnicity, nationality, class, age and sexuality as categories of analysis.
The B.A. and minor in Women's and Gender Studies provides an interdisciplinary exploration of the intersectional nature of power and social relationships. Our courses engage the study of gender through intersectional and transnational lenses which allow students the opportunity to examine the structural and complex way that representations, ideas, and practices about gender shape the past and present. By foregrounding the transnational and intersectional flows of justice, social and economic transformation and women's agency, our curriculum emphasizes the importance of understanding and interrogating race, ethnicity, national, class, age, sexuality and different abilities as generative categories of analysis.
