The Syracuse University Department of Religion maintains a robust and active research profile with faculty members publishing and editing books and articles. Here is a brief selection of recent scholarship by our faculty:

• Professor James W. Watts, has edited Sensing Sacred Texts, Sheffield: Equinox, 2018.

• Virginia Burrus, The Bishop W. Earl Ledden Professor of Religion, has published Ancient Christian Ecopoetics: Cosmologies, Saints, Things with the University of Pennsylvania Press.

• Thomas J. Watson Professor, Ann Grodzins Gold, has published: "Rural Women's Education: Process and Promise (co-authored with Chinu Gujar, Ghumar Gujar, Madhu Gujar). • Assitant Professor, Biko Mandela Gray, has co-written an article with Drs. Stephen C. Finley and Lori Latrice Martin entitled, “Affirming Our Values”: African American Scholars, White Virtual Mobs, and the Complicity of White University Administrators. The article was accompanied by "The (Phone) Call: Black Professors, White Virtual Mobs, and the Limits of Academic Freedom," a blog post for Academe Blog a production of Academe Magazine and the AAUP.
