Abel Gomez was awarded a research grant from the Center for the Study of Religion and the City at Morgan State University. Abel Gomez is a PhD candidate in the Department of Religion studying Indigenous, Neo-Pagan, and Latinx religious movements. He will use this award to complete fieldwork for his dissertation, Sacred Sites, Ceremony, and Belonging in Ohlone Territory: A Case Study of Indigenous Survival. The dissertation is an ethnographic exploration of Indigenous Ohlone sacred sites protection movements and cultural revitalization in the San Francisco and Monterey regions of California.
