We are excited to welcome our newest tenure-track faculty member, Karin Nisenbaum, to the philosophy department! Professor Nisenbaum has held previous posts at Boston College and at Colgate University, and earned her PhD at the University of Toronto in 2014. Her research focuses on issues of metaphysics and practical reason in Kant’s critical philosophy, as developed by post-Kantian thinkers such as Fichte and Schelling and by Jewish philosophers such as Maimon and Rosenzweig.

Nisenbaum’s most significant work to date is her 2018 monograph For the Love of Metaphysics: Nihilism and the Conflict of Reason from Kant to Rosenzweig (Oxford University Press).
