The Archimedes Prize is awarded annually by the department in recognition of outstanding achievements in undergraduate mathematics. This year’s winner is Anthony Mazzacane (pictured). Anthony graduated in May 2024 with majors in Mathematics and Computer Science, a member of Pi Mu Epsilon and of the Renée Crown University Honors Program. He was also awarded this year’s Erdős Prize for Excellence in Mathematical Problem-Solving, for his performance in the Putnam Competition.
The Euclid Prize is awarded annually by the department to the most promising math majors who are not graduating in the year of the award. This year’s winners are Aksel Malatak (pictured) and Owen Opalenick (not pictured). Aksel, Class of 2025, is a double major in Mathematics and Computer Engineering, and a member of Pi Mu Epsilon. Owen expects to graduate in 2025 with a Mathematics major and minors in Biology and Sport Analytics.
