Nathan Keckley is a PhD student specializing in Early Modern British literature, Marxist criticism, and ecocriticism. His research investigates the historical, ideological, and material contexts that manifest themselves in literary works produced during the period of primitive accumulation, particularly the drama of Shakespeare et al. Currently, he is interested in humoral theory (specifically melancholy), how melancholy developed ecological and economic significance in Elizabethan and Jacobean England, and how "bad air" became entangled with alienation.
