CSD senior Alex Middleton was selected to receive the 2022 Chancellor’s Citation for Excellence in the category of Excellence in Student Research (Undergraduate). This competitive award recognizes students who have made invaluable contributions in their scholarly work which has the “potential to make a deep and lasting impact on the greater society.” Alex was nominated by their mentor Dr. Stephanie McMillen for their work in the Diversity in Language & Literacy research lab, which has included projects surveying speech-language pathologists’ perceptions and cultural competency for working with Transgender populations, transcribing language samples in typically developing children and those with speech sound disorders, and collecting demographic data from parents of children born preterm. Alex’s achievement will be celebrated at the One University Awards on Friday April 22 from 4-5:30 in Hendrick’s Chapel. Congratulations to Alex on this outstanding achievement!
