The Biology Department has implemented several extracurricular opportunities for undergraduate students over the past few years.

This was the third year for the Biology Peer Mentoring Program, with 50 first year and transfer students participating in the program and partnered with 14 peer mentors (seniors and juniors). The students participated in a welcome event, skating at Tennity Pavilion, small group events, and a celebration dinner in March.

We held our second annual BioFair in October 2022. We had over 30 biology relevant clubs and organizations represented, with over 250 students attending.

This year we added a new spring event with the 1st annual Biology Research Fair. This event highlighted research labs in the Biology Department, as well as biology related labs from across campus and at Upstate Medical University and SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry School. Students had the opportunity to speak with researchers from these labs and to learn about the exciting work that they can participate in as students here at Syracuse University!
