2021-22 was the inaugural year for the Biology Peer Mentoring Program. 39 first year and transfer students participated in the program. These incoming students were partnered with 13 peer mentors (seniors and juniors) and participated in a welcome event in August, ice skating at Tennity Pavilion, small group events and a celebration dinner in April.
This program provides incoming students with the opportunity to meet other members of the department, build community with other students, and engage with faculty. The department looks forward to an expanded program in the upcoming year with the second cohort of students.
If you are a junior or senior biology/ biotechnology/ biochemistry major who would like to serve as a mentor, contact Billie Trapani for more information. And for incoming students, more information on how to join the program will be sent by email in June.
