Congratulations to our own professor Romita Ray for being featured in an extensive SU Today article about Ray’s ongoing examination of the subject of tea. Professor Ray’s current book project on the art, aesthetics, and science of tea in colonial and modern India, as well as her family background of tea planters in India, led her to establish numerous contacts across academic disciplines that resulted in the recent conference, “Tea: Nature, Culture, Society, 1650-1850.”
The virtual conference, which took place June 22-24, 2022, and was hosted by the Linnean Society of London, provided Ray the opportunity to present some of her research. In addition, the SU Today article mentions a variety of sources of support for Professor Ray’s research, such as the Syracuse University Collaboration for Unprecedented Success and Excellence (CUSE) Grant.
