On October 13, Professor Amanda Eubanks Winkler gave a talk for the Tudor Music Forum entitled “Tudor Goes Pop: Teaching With Horrible Histories and Six.” Eubanks Winkler described how Horrible Histories (2009–2014), a British television program that featured parody songs, and Six, a pop concert style musical about Henry VIII’s six wives, might be used to explore the function of musical pastiche and the relationship between pop culture and historiography.
The Tudor Music Forum brings together academics and performers from across the world to discuss issues in Tudor music research, performance and education, and collaborate on publications, conferences and panels.
