Congratulations to Ben Allsopp, a member of the 2017 symposium class in the art history master's program in Florence. Ben has just been awarded an Outstanding Master's Student Prize by the College of Arts and Sciences in recognition for his academic achievements. His capstone research project analyzed depictions of Christ's blood in Fra Angelico's "Crucifixion" frescos for the Novitiates' cells at San Marco by exploring Dominican attitudes towards blood and bloodletting in period theological and medical practices. Next fall, Ben will be pursuing a PhD in art history at Johns Hopkins University, where he has been offered a full fellowship.
