Syracuse University and Golisano Center for Special Needs Launch New Internship and Research Partnership

Syracuse University is proud to partner with the Golisano Center for Special Needs in launching a new internship and undergraduate research initiative designed to provide students with meaningful exposure to clinical care, behavioral health and translational research.
During this pilot year, six undergraduate students from the fields of psychology, biology and human development and family science were selected to participate in clinical internship experiences at the Center. In addition, fourteen students have joined ongoing research efforts as undergraduate research assistants, contributing to projects focused on developmental disabilities, behavioral treatment, pediatric feeding disorders and related areas of clinical and scientific importance.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to experiential learning and interdisciplinary collaboration. Students have the opportunity to observe and contribute within a professional medical and research environment while learning from physicians, clinicians and researchers whose work supports children and families across the community.
The University is especially grateful to the psychologists and staff at the Golisano Center for their mentorship, generosity and willingness to invest in undergraduate training opportunities. Their guidance has helped create an experience that introduces students to both the clinical and research dimensions of pediatric and behavioral healthcare.
While the program is still in its early stages, this initial collaboration represents an encouraging step toward expanding hands-on learning opportunities for students interested in healthcare, psychology, behavioral science, and research careers. Syracuse University looks forward to continuing to strengthen this relationship and exploring future opportunities for student engagement as the partnership evolves.
