Dan Moseson's dissertation, Religion in Contemplative Studies, was on the new field of contemplative studies, which has appeared at many universities.  Contemplative studies explores the use of meditation practices in educational settings.  He conducted historical research and ethnographic interviews to understand how contemplative studies advocates situate their work relative to the concept of "religion."  In his spare time, he enjoys photography, hiking, biking, and playing guitar.  He plans to use the knowledge and experiences that he has gained as a doctoral student to continue working in higher education. His dissertation committee was: Joanne Punzo Waghorne (Advisor), Gareth Fisher (Examiner), Philip P. Arnold (Examiner), Rachel Razza (Examiner), Patrick W. Berry (Examiner), Robert Van Gulick (Oral Examination Chair).
