Research and Teaching Interests
Stephen's research interests include: developing a highly engaging, student-centered approach to learning, academic discourse and critical thinking. In addition, he is exploring the cultural, linguistic and educational differences among international students studying in U.S. universities. He is a contributing author of a book titled, Learner's Privilege and Responsibility: A Critical Examination of the Experiences and Perspectives of Learners from Chinese Backgrounds in the United States; his chapter is titled, Different Educational Norms and Linguistic Proficiency: Looking at Chinese Students’ Classroom Participation and Social Interaction on a U.S. University Campus.
