Dean Karin Ruhlandt writes "Michael leaves a huge hole in our community. A 35+ year University employee, he served in various roles over the years in both the physics and chemistry departments. Students, staff and faculty remember him as a creative and kind-hearted person, someone with an incredible intellect and wry sense of humor. A quiet and unassuming person, he was also known for his musical talent (he played bass and keyboards in many local bands over the years), and his love of cats. He had a special place in his heart for geriatric kitties, and tended many with extraordinary devotion and compassion. We have lost a special soul, and I ask you to please join with me in sending our condolences and support to his family, friends, and loved ones."
