Gal Stav-Alfasi, began the PhD program at Syracuse University in 2018. Her research focuses on the absence of Mizrahi Jews from the collective memory of the state of Israel. She is interested in postcolonial theory, media studies, and cultural memory. Her B.A. is in media and journalism (summa cum laude) from Sapir College in Israel and an International M.A. in Holocaust Studies at the University of Haifa (magna cum laude).
