Austin Lewter received a BS in Political Science with a minor in Human Rights & Conflict from Birmingham-Southern College (2020). His Senior Thesis, entitled The Day the Gates Fall, explores identity, race, and belonging for people of color within a PWI. Austin’s research interests include racial terrorism; collective memory; Black Existentialism; the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and the Civil Rights Movement. He currently serves as President of the Syracuse University Black Graduate Student Association.
