Mary Warner Marien was the first William C. Fleming professor in the former Department of Fine Arts, now the Department of Art & Music Histories. She is the author of several books including Photography: A Cultural History (2010), now in its third edition. She was chosen to carry on William Fleming's Arts & Ideas, In 2009, she was granted one of the first Andy Warhol Arts Writing Awards. Her book, 100 Ideas that Changed Photography, appeared in a dozen world languages in 2012.
