Congratulations to Patricia Burak, assistant professor in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics, on being named a 2020 recipient of NAFSA’s Life Membership Award. NAFSA: Association of International Educators is a worldwide organization that advances international education and global workforce development. One of its major goals is encouraging global learning for students, scholars and educators.
The Life Membership is awarded each year to NAFSA members in recognition of their career achievements in international education and exchange. In her more than 40 years at Syracuse University, Burak has created mentoring programs, advised the International Student Association, planned cultural festivals, and traveled professionally to Ukraine, Russia and Spain.
NAFSA sets standards of good practice, provides training professional and networking opportunities, and advocates for international education. There are nearly 10,000 NAFSA members worldwide from all 50 states and over 150 countries.
