Ashley “Aley” O’Mara, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of English, recently co-convened and participated in a virtual roundtable on Early Modern Asexualities and Performance with the Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. The panelists introduced early-modern asexuality studies as a distinct field and offered examples of reading for queer asexuality in Shakespeare and other early-modern drama.

The event was the first asexuality studies session to be featured by any major Renaissance organization. For the event, O’Mara also contributed to a reading list for researching and teaching queer asexuality in early modern studies.
