A&S Communications Team Welcomes Second Communications Specialist
Kerrie Marshall brings over 15 years of writing, marketing and public relations experience to A&S.
The College of Arts and Sciences’ Office of Communications welcomes communications specialist Kerrie Marshall. She comes to A&S with extensive marketing and public relations experience, most recently serving as assistant director of communications at the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental Energy Systems (SyracuseCoE).
Marshall joins A&S’ six-person communications office, where she will work to advance the College’s reach and reputation by creating content that highlights the creative and academic excellence of its faculty and students. Her duties will include writing articles about faculty and student research and scholarship, updating the College’s website, assisting with A&S’ print and digital alumni magazine, and producing e-newsletters.
Arts and Sciences director of communications Daeya Malboeuf says, “We’re thrilled to welcome Kerrie to the A&S Communications team. With A&S being home to over 300 faculty and nearly 6,000 students whose research and scholarship spans the sciences and humanities, Kerrie’s higher education experience will advance our office’s efforts to promote the University’s largest, most academically diverse college.”
As the assistant director of communications for SyracuseCoE for over nine years, Marshall developed multi-platform content and digital marketing strategies for a diverse audience and developed a cohesive Syracuse University-centric brand to support the broader context of the University’s mission, vision and strategic plan. Prior to joining SyracuseCoE, she worked to help launch an innovative clean tech start-up out of the Cornell University tech transfer office, e2e Materials.
Marshall says, “I am honored to be joining this dedicated and talented communications team at A&S. A particularly exciting aspect for me is the opportunity to delve into the diverse array of disciplines and help showcase the fascinating stories and discoveries that emerge through creative and strategic storytelling. As a proud parent of both a Syracuse University Arts and Sciences alum and junior, I really do bleed orange!”
Marshall is currently pursuing an executive master’s degree in communications management in the Newhouse School and has also received a bachelor of science degree from Cornell University’s College of Human Ecology in design and environmental analysis and a degree in graphic design from Tompkins Cortland Community College. A resident of Cazenovia, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and volunteering in her spare time.
Marshall will start May 1.
