Students from the Syracuse University Mock Trial Team (sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences office of Advising and Career Services) recently participated in the College of Law’s annual Diversity Law Day program. This year’s event brought in approximately 200 area high school students various racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds that are often underrepresented in the legal profession.

Teens from Henninger, Fowler, Nottingham, Utica Proctor, LaFayette, Onondaga Nation School and Corcoran High Schools where given the chance to participate in a variety of structured events that introduced students to fundamentals of a law career. In addition to interactive panel discussions with current law students and faculty, the high schoolers were able to take part in a real mock trial and observe how lawyers develop and make their “Closing arguments”.

The event co-sponsored by the New York State Bar Association, Law School Admission Council's DiscoverLaw, New York State Bar Association, and William Herbert Johnson Bar Association.
