Creative Arts Academy Fall 2012 Showcase at the Everson
The accomplishments of students participating in the Creative Arts Academy at the Community Folk Art Center will be celebrated at the Fall 2012 Showcase, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 at the Everson Museum of Art, 401 Harrison St., Syracuse. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. The evening celebration will include dance and theater performances, a visual arts exhibition, and presentations.
Launched in 2009, the Creative Arts Academy is a pre-professional arts program for students in grades seven through 12 who are interested in pursuing a career in the visual and performing arts. The academy's mission is to engage, nurture and empower young people from the City of Syracuse throught the arts and to prepare them for advanced study in the visual and expressive arts.
The Community Folk Art Center, 805 E. Genesee St., Syracuse, is a program of the Department of African American Studies in Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences and is supported in part with funding from the New York State Council on the Arts.
