The 44th Annual New York State Regional Graduate Mathematics Conference was held at Syracuse University on March 23, 2019. It was supported by an NSF grant (PI Graham Leuschke, co-PI Caleb McWhorter, the president of Mathematics Graduate Organization 2018-19). This annual event is an opportunity for graduate students in New York State and the surrounding region to come together, share current research, and interact with other graduate students. In many cases this conference is the first time a graduate student presents their research outside of their own department.
The 44th conference was a large and successful events with four parallel sessions with graduate student speakers coming from around the U.S. (University of Wisconsin, Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Illinois, DePaul University, University of Connecticut, City University of New York) and from abroad (Graz University of Technology, University of Western Ontario). Several Syracuse University students gave talks as well.
The keynote lectures were delivered by Kathryn Mann (Brown University) and John Voight (Dartmouth College).
Organizing this conference is a joint effort by our graduate students, which was led by Caleb McWhorter, Casey Necheles and Erin Griffin. The MGO faculty advisor is Professor Graham Leuschke.
