
Erin Tripp successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation “Structured Sparsity Promoting Functions: Theory and Applications" in May 2019. Her advisor was Lixin Shen. A few months before the defense, Erin received the 2019 Donald E. Kibbey Prize in Mathematics. After graduation she will join the Air Force Research Laboratory.

Grace Njuguna received the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award for the 2018-19 academic year. This award is presented by the Graduate School to TAs who have made distinguished contributions through instructional activities. Graduate students are nominated for the award by their departments, and the selection is made by a University-wide committee of faculty recognized for their teaching excellence. The Outstanding TA Award is given to approximately the top 4% of all TAs campus-wide. Grace is planning to defend her thesis in Summer 2019. Her advisor is Joanna Masingila.

Keshab Adhikari won the 2019 Robert M. Exner Prize in Mathematics Education. His advisor is Duane Graysay.

Muzhi Jin was another recipient of the 2019 Donald E. Kibbey Prize in Mathematics. His advisor is Yuan Yuan.
