Tej Bhatia, professor of linguistics and director of South Asian languages, was once again featured on two Homeland Defense and Security Information Analysis Center (HDIAC) podcasts for his expertise on emerging topics in the fields of alternative energy, biometrics, cultural studies, and homeland defense and security.
- Part one of the podcast explains the similarities and differences in multilingual and sociocultural brains, how they operate, factors that affect them and how they interact. While the multilingual brain functions unconsciously to create new meanings, new sensitivities, and new cross-cultural information, the socio-cultural brain contains biases and social misunderstandings.
- Part two of the podcast describes the role of these brain functions in national diplomacy, security, economics and commerce.
