Corri Zoli, research assistant professor in the College of Arts and Sciences’ Forensic and National Security Science Institute, has been named to Syracuse University’s inaugural Community Review Board (CRB). The CRB was created following an independent review of the University’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) by former Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch. The board is responsible for reviewing appeals of civilian complaints regarding DPS officer conduct. The committee will produce an annual public report of findings and recommendations.

Zoli is one of 11 members of the board, which includes three undergraduate students, one graduate student, one law student, two faculty members, two staff members and two administrators. She says her previous experience with diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) program development with organizations such as Syracuse University’s Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence motivated her to become involved with the CRB.

Zoli’s academic research focuses on contemporary problems of warfare from an interdisciplinary social science, public policy and law perspective. She is a senior researcher at Syracuse’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families; a faculty member in political science and international relations at Maxwell | A&S; an honorary professor at the Institute for Religion, Politics, and Society at Australian Catholic University, Melbourne; and Chair of the Academic Advisory Board for the Warrior-Scholar Project, which is a college-preparatory academic boot camp for enlisted veterans and transitioning service members. Zoli recently taught a special session for the Warrior-Scholar Project’s Virtual Humanities Academic Boot Camp, a program that prepares service members and veterans for the challenges and rigor of humanities or liberal arts bachelor’s degree programs.
