Maja Grey (they/she) is an English PhD student whose research lies at the intersection of British literature from 1800 onward—with a heavy emphasis on genre fiction—and adaptation studies.

They are currently focused on taking a new historicist approach to analyzing detective fiction as well as examining how texts from the genre are reinterpreted—or, conversely, not reinterpreted—for new mediums and audiences and how these changes impact the story, its meaning, and its reception.

Other areas of interest include the evolution of high fantasy with a particular interest in J.R.R. Tolkien and his legacy, the use of science fiction as social commentary, and the portrayal of neurodiversity in children's literature.
