Biographic Overview
Whitney Bashaw is a poet, video artist, and first-year MFA candidate at Syracuse University. Influenced by eco-poetics and ideas of the sublime and the erotic, she writes about animals, fear, containment, sex, and mythmaking. Her work has been exhibited and published at the Cadence Video Poetry Festival, the Center for Fiction in Brooklyn, Bainbridge Island Art Museum, Ponder Review, and elsewhere. She seeks to embody Natalie Diaz's imperative: “We must go beyond to a place where we have never been the center, where there is no center.”
