sam stoeltje is a writer of politically engaged, trans- and counter-generic fiction that is often informed by philosophy and critical theory. In 2023, they earned a PhD in English Literature from Rice University, with specialization in the fields of Indigenous literature, religious studies, and decolonial theory. Their writing has appeared in Plantings, Cite, Hypocrite Reader, Magic, Ritual and Witchcraft, and elsewhere. They are also an experienced prison educator, currently teaching for the College in Prison program through SUNY Polytechnic.
