B.A. in Astronomy
Degree Program Information
The Bachelor of Arts in astronomy provides a strong foundation in physics, computational methods and laboratory techniques, with a focus on key topics in astronomy. The program prepares students for careers in research, education and related fields, while fostering critical thinking, analytical reasoning and observational skills.
The astronomy degree provides an introduction to the study of the cosmos, from the scale of the solar system to the Universe as a whole and uses physics to analyze planets, stars and black holes.
The Astronomy B.A. requires a minimum of 30 total credit hours of physics coursework, 18 of which must be in courses numbered 300 or higher. Some of the specific required courses may be modified by petition to the department.
Program requirements can be found at the catalog link in the sidebar.
