Philip Arnold, associate professor of religion and faculty member in the Center for Global Indigenous Cultures and Environmental Justice, was interviewed by KCBS Radio in San Francisco. He spoke about recent efforts to refocus Columbus Day into Indigenous People's Day, a holiday to celebrate the contributions of native peoples.
In speaking about the shift in attitudes, Arnold said: "It maps something of a change that we're going through right now. I think it has something to do with the settler-colonial narrative playing itself out and people paying much more attention to the values of Indigenous peoples."
