Last week, prof Sumathi Ramaswamy (Duke University) gave a standing-room only lecture about visualizing Mahatma Gandhi in honor of Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary. The event was organized by the department of art and music histories in collaboration with the South Asia Center. It was generously co-sponsored by our department, the South Asia Center, the Syracuse University Libraries, Light Work, the SU Humanities Center, History, Communication and Rhetorical Studies, the Lender Center for Social Justice, the Goldring Arts Journalism Program, Renée Crown University Honors Program, Magazine, News and Digital Journalism, Visual Communications Department, the Democratizing Knowledge Project, and the College of Arts and Sciences.
