Professor Romita Ray’s collaboration with Adam Sudmann, founder of My Lucky Tummy, a pop-up dining concept featuring refugee cuisine in Syracuse, and With Love restaurant, also featuring cuisine from recently arrived refugees in Syracuse, was showcased in an October 15 article in The Daily Orange. Sudmann and prof Ray organized a series of Pecha Kucha-style talks centered on the theme of food that involved prof Samantha Herrick (history) at SU who gave a spectacular talk on Peacock Pies, along with a local beekeeper, beer brewer, farmer, and a former refugee who spoke about how to cook dinner in a refugee camp. A big shout out to art history graduate student Liz Bryson who helped organize the powerpoint presentations and provided much-needed technical assistance during the event, which was held on October 1.
