The A&S Community: In It Together

Still sharing smiles over the miles

2023 Update. In honor of the three years since the pandemic started, we’re updating this page and want to hear from you! What got you through those times, was one thing you learned, or would you tell your 2020 self today? What would you say to graduating seniors who were just first-year students then? Email us at ASNews@syr.edu. We may share a selection of responses in e-newsletters and social media. #ArtsSci2Gether

While the COVID-19 pandemic kept us physically apart in 2020 and 2021, the bond connecting the A&S family remained strong. During that time, we asked faculty, staff and students to share what helped them stay productive, happy and connected. We still love these selfies of you learning or working surrounded by pets, family or nature!

"If you’re struggling, know that you’re not alone. The Syracuse Orange Family is large, vast, deep and as strong as we’ve ever been. Whether you’re a freshman, in the class of 2020 or any other year, or an alum, we will get through this together. Arts & Sciences alumni and the entire Orange Nation are here to support you, because we are SU!"

"Shift your focus to video meetings and treat them as if they are in-person. Dress for success, be flexible, candid and sincere, ask questions, make eye contact and hold your heads up high. You are students of Syracuse University and you should exude Orange Pride!"
