Syracuse University has partnered with the Golisano Center for Special Needs to launch a new internship and undergraduate research program. The goal is to give students direct, hands-on exposure to clinical care, behavioral health and translational research — working alongside physicians, clinicians and researchers who care for children and families in the community.

The program runs on two tracks. In its pilot year, six undergraduates from psychology, biology, and human development and family science completed clinical internships at the Center. Fourteen more joined as undergraduate research assistants, contributing to studies on developmental disabilities, behavioral treatment and pediatric feeding disorders.

The program is still new, but the University plans to expand it as the partnership grows. It could be a good fit for students interested in healthcare, psychology, behavioral science or research careers who want practical, hands-on experience before graduating.
